The remnants of Vasco da Gama were buried here before being shifted to Portugal. Paradesi Synagogue : Also known as Cochin Jewish Synagogue, this is the oldest synagogue in the commonwealth. This synagogue was built in 1568 AD and is adorned with exquisite hand-painted, blue-and-white Chinese porcelain tiles and Belgian hanging lamps. The synagogue still has the scrolls of the Old Testament and the copper plates, which recorded the grants of privilege, bequeathed by the Kochi rulers. Chinese Fishing Nets : These huge cantilevered fishing nets seen in the Vasco da Gama square are a top draw among the tourists.
